LSR Molding
LSR Molding Project Review
Bring a liquid silicone rubber part drawing for a material, tooling and manufacturing review. Critical features, grade requirements and order volume guide the discussion.
01 / LSR Molding
Prepare the LSR manufacturing brief
Bring the current drawing, material reference and demand pattern. Define what the finished part must do and the characteristics that control assembly. The proposed process, tooling scope, material availability and delivery sequence are confirmed against the project.
| Input | What to include |
|---|---|
| Material | Required grade or property specification, color and relevant contact conditions |
| Geometry | 3D data and drawing revision, wall sections, critical features and datums |
| Appearance | Surface zones, parting line, flash and approved visual reference |
| Inserts | Substrate material and full grade, supplied state and dimensional requirements |
| Demand | Trial quantity, order pattern and expected production requirement |
| Acceptance | Dimensions, appearance, functional tests and customer submission requirements |

Review the tooling proposal before comparing cost
Identify the cavity plan, filling and venting approach, gates, parting line, insert location and demolding requirements. Agree who supplies or owns the tool, maintenance responsibility and how drawing changes affect trials. Compare quotations using the same material, scope, sample plan and order assumptions; tooling economics depend on that actual proposal.
03 / LSR Molding
Define overmolding and adhesion requirements
For a thermoplastic substrate, supply its full grade, surface state, preparation limits and geometry. State whether the request involves a supplied insert, a separate overmolding step or a multicomponent proposal. Review the material pair, curing conditions and substrate exposure together. Specify the bond or separation evaluation and its conditioning; process availability and adhesion are confirmed for that combination.
04 / LSR Molding
Agree what the trial samples must demonstrate
Link trial material, tooling revision and samples to the inspection result. Appearance and dimensional acceptance should be stated before the trial. For an insert or bonded interface, define alignment, adhesion and the functional checks that matter to the assembly.
- Measure identified samples in the agreed finished and conditioned state.
- Review flash, surface and insert interfaces against the drawing or signed reference.
- Evaluate the required function and record any change before sample approval.

Carry the approved result into the order
Agree approved drawing and grade, packaging, lot identification, inspection records and change review. Define any customer submission separately from the sample result. Confirm tooling charges, production terms and delivery with the agreed scope.
