Diaphragms
Custom Rubber Diaphragms
Discuss a molded diaphragm around its working movement, fluid exposure and assembly. Share the clamping geometry, stroke and pressure conditions for a material and manufacturing review.
01 / Diaphragms
Describe the installed movement
Provide the diaphragm drawing and the mating assembly. Identify the clamped area, active geometry, thickness transitions and required stroke. State whether a reinforcement is part of the specification so its material, position and manufacturing route can be reviewed with the rubber.
02 / Diaphragms
Prepare a complete diaphragm requirement
Include the full operating sequence rather than a pressure limit alone.
| Input | Information to provide |
|---|---|
| Geometry | Drawing revision, thickness profile, active diameter and attachment features |
| Clamping | Mating dimensions, edge support, compression and assembly method |
| Movement | Stroke, deflection, frequency or sequence, dwell and return conditions |
| Pressure | Differential pressure, direction, pulses and startup or shutdown |
| Media | Fluid or gas composition, concentrations, cleaning and contact time |
| Temperature | Cold start, operating history, peaks and conditioning |
| Acceptance | Required dimensional, leakage, response and cycle-evaluation criteria |
| Supply | Material reference, sample and order quantity, packaging and records |
03 / Diaphragms
Separate material exposure, gas transfer and function
For gas service, define the actual composition and cold conditions. Permeation through a material and leakage at the clamped interface are different questions. Agree any reinforcement, gas-transfer or cycle requirement for the proposed construction. Material aging and repeated flexing also need distinct evaluation plans.
04 / Diaphragms
Evaluate representative samples in the assembly
Agree sample identity, conditioning, clamping and the pressure or motion sequence. If a response curve matters, define its axes, loading direction and acceptance basis. Compare the required leak, movement and return results with the agreed criteria before sample approval. Retain the approved drawing, material and inspection basis for repeat supply.
- Confirm dimensions and the installed edge condition.
- Evaluate function using the defined pressure, stroke and temperature.
- Record the result, approval responsibility and any open changes.
