Humanoid Robotics
Rubber Components for Humanoid Robotics
Review flexible protection, contact surfaces and bonded components around the movement and loading of your mechanism. Share the drawing and functional requirements for an engineering discussion.
01 / Humanoid Robotics
Define the component’s job in the mechanism
Start with the drawing and the function at the installation point: flexible protection, a contact surface or a bonded component. Identify the mating parts and the movement the rubber must accommodate. These inputs guide the material and molding discussion before samples are specified.

Describe movement, contact and loading
A part’s shape alone does not describe its duty. Include the conditions that determine the sample evaluation.
| Input | Information to provide |
|---|---|
| Part and interface | Drawing revision, function, mating parts and available installation space |
| Movement | Full travel, lateral or angular movement, end positions and fixing points |
| Loading | Supported mass, preload, load direction, frequency and amplitude where relevant |
| Environment | Temperature, lubricant, cleaning agents, dust and other exposure |
| Contact surface | Counterface, normal force, speed, dwell, contaminants and wear criterion |
| Electrical requirement | Required property, measurement method, specimen and conditioning |
| Approval | Sample quantity, assembly trial, acceptance criteria and required records |

Review flexible covers and bonded components by function
For a flexible cover, check the full motion envelope, attachment and protection requirement together. For a bonded component, distinguish metal position and bond acceptance from the static or dynamic response of the assembly. A damping assessment needs the load and operating range, including the mating structure.

Specify contact surfaces with measurable criteria
For a contact pad, identify the handled surface and the task it performs. Agree the test setup for grip, wear and surface transfer under the relevant force, speed and contamination. If an electrical property is required, define its method and conditioning separately. Keep each result associated with the tested compound and geometry.

Connect samples to the assembly trial
Choose sample conditions that represent the intended installation. Agree who evaluates the assembly, what constitutes acceptance and how changes are handled. Keep the drawing revision, compound, lot and sample records available when moving to repeat orders.
