FFKM identifies a perfluoroelastomer family; a purchasing specification needs an identified compound and part. Describe why the present seal is being reviewed and what the candidate must demonstrate. Compare requirements for chemical exposure, temperature, compression and equipment function without treating one family name as a complete specification.

Build the material and part requirement
Use the actual exposure at the seal position, including cleaning and changes between process steps. Record operating limits and excursions separately.

Separate the evidence for each process concern
A plasma exposure result, an outgassing report, an extractables measurement and an assembly leak test answer different questions. Agree which outputs your process requires and the method and sample conditions for each. Compare the proposed compound and part on that basis; evidence for another formulation or process location needs its own relevance review.

Compare candidates against the same decision
Set the required evidence before comparing FFKM with an FKM candidate or an existing branded seal. Include the cost of the part, inspection, qualification and maintenance assumptions in a purchasing comparison. A branded reference identifies an original specification; approval of the candidate still depends on the application.

Move from sample evaluation to an agreed supply specification
Provide drawing revision, quantity, intended equipment duty and the reports needed with samples. Keep compound, part and sample lot linked through evaluation. Agree approval responsibility, packaging, identification and change review before recurring supply.
